Microneedling with PRP or Radiofrequency
What does microneedling do?
Microneedling is the use of tiny needles to cause microtrauma to the skin in order to stimulate healing and the production of new collagen in 4-6 weeks. The upper layer of the dermis sloughs off and the new skin underneath appears. The thicker texture of the new skin smooths out wrinkles. Discoloration, scars, and loose skin improve as fresh skin grows back with more collagen.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma and Acell?
Platelet rich plasma is the clear yellow part of the blood after the red blood cells have been spun down. The top portion has platelets with growth factors that our bodies use for robust healing. Because PRP is derived from your own body, there is no risk of allergic reactions.
Acell is extracellular matrix that is derived from porcine bladder. It is FDA-approved for partial thickness wounds, full thickness wounds, burns, and lacerations. This substance has collagen and growth factors that enhance results. The combination of PRP and Acell works superbly to enhance hair growth on the scalp.
How can PRP, radiofrequency, and Acell improve my results from microneedling?
PRP and ACell may be injected into the skin or may be massaged into the tiny channels created by the microneedling. The addition of PRP and ACell enhances the subsequent production collagen, tighter skin, smoother scars, and increased scalp hair growth.
We use the RF Secret (Cutera brand) device to deliver radiofrequency heat into the needles to created a greater area of microtrauma around the needles for even better results and less downtime
Does microneedling hurt?
We offer strong numbing cream and inhaled nitrox for comfort.
What can I expect immediately afterwards?
With RF Secret, there is little downtime because radiofrequency cauterizes blood vessels to prevent bleeding and scabbing. You’ll look pink as if you had a mild sunburn, and that will be gone by the end of the next day. You’ll still be able to go out in public and there will no peeling.
After microneedling with PRP, your skin will be red and you will look as if you have had a sunburn. You will have many little scabs for several days and you will peel for 1 week. You will need to avoid the sun at this time as well as use gentle cleansers and moisturizers. Your skin will feel dry because the upper layer, which prevents moisture loss, will begin to peel off. Skin will start flaking in 2 days and will continue for about a week.
